You can find Claire treating patients in room 3 at our North Shore location in Wilmette, throwing the weights around at DogHouse Crossfit, drinking wine with her ladies, or hanging out with or walking Bridgette her boxer. We were able to snag a bit of her time for a few questions about her journey in skincare. Come along with us as we talk to Claire!
Striving to be the best she can be, Claire O'Connor started as an Aesthetician and Laser & Light Specialist at SpaDerma almost 13 years ago!
SpaDerma: How long have you been interested in skincare and how long have you worked at SpaDerma?
Claire O'Connor: I’ve been interested in skincare for as long as I can remember. As a little kid all I wanted to do is play with makeup, paint my nails, and experiment with skincare products. I have super fair, sensitive skin, so I’ve always been extra careful with product ingredients and the sun.
In January I will be celebrating my 13th year with SpaDerma! I started at the Lincoln Park location 10 years ago, then moved to the new North Shore location 3 years ago.
SD: What made you want to be in the aesthetics industry and why do you love it?
Claire: I’ve been interested in skincare and beauty since I was little. School was never really my thing. I wanted to do makeup and buy and use all the skincare products. Skincare is what made me truly happy. So I took the chance and followed my dreams at a young age.
I can honestly say I love what I do everyday. I get to meet and treat people. I love that I can change someone’s life for the better. Making someone confident and glowy is the best feeling.
I also get to work work the best, most amazing people. I’ve been with SpaDerma for a long time and know a lot of the employees from all the locations. It’s always so fun when we get together!
SD: What is your favorite treatment:
Claire: My favorite treatment is the Hydra-Clear Duo. Hydrafacial with Clear & Brilliant (add the derm-resurfacing too!) After this treatment your skin is tight, plump, and glowing! All of my patients are doing it.
SD: What is a fun fact about yourself?
Claire: I’ve been I’m the beauty industry since the age of 13! I stared shampooing hair on the weekends, which lead me to all things beauty. Skin, hair, makeup, and all the products!
SD: Any advice for a beginner to the industry or SpaDerma?
Claire: Keep learning, and keep being YOU! Skincare is a passion. Be passionate and positive, and see where that takes you.
